After announcing that all its G9 tablets will receive Android 4.0 in early February and missing its target, Archos has now informed its users that the ICS update is almost ready to roll out and that is should become available in the next two weeks.

The announcement came via the company’s official Facebook page just a few hours earlier.

“Regarding the upgrade to ICS: We apologize for the delay, but it is important to us to deliver a smooth transition over to Android 4.0 and to make sure that your experience is a positive one.

“We fully anticipate deploying the upgrade within the next two weeks. Thank you for your continued support of Archos,” reads the announcement.

At the start of this year, during the CES 2012 fair, Archos has showcased a 101 G9 Turbo tablet running the 4.0.1 version of the Android OS, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich, but the build wasn’t completely functional.

The OTA update that users will receive will however contain Android 4.0.3, which is the most recent version of ICS to arrive so far.

Right now, Archos’ G9 series of tablets includes two devices, the Archos 80 G9 and the Archos 101 G9, the first coming as an 8-inch model while the latter uses a 10.1-inch display.

Despite the different form factors, both of these tablets feature almost identical specs and they are powered by TI OMAP processors with speeds ranging from 1GHz to 1.5GHz.

WiFi, Bluetooth and a built-in GPS come as standard for all models while storage space is set at either 8GB or 16GB. Furthermore, users can also opt for a 250GB ultra-slim hard drive built by Seagate.

Both Archos G9-series tablets are available right now. In the US prices start at $269 (203 EUR) for the 8GB version of the Archos 80 G9 with a 1GHz SoC, and go all the way up to $379 (about 287 EUR) for the 16GB Archos 101 G9 with a 1.2GHz dual-core TI OMAP chipset.
