It will probably be a sort of competitor to Kindle Fire and Nook tablet

The Federal Communications Commission was kind enough to provide a photo of the Arnova GBook tablet from Archos.

Unfortunately, we don't really know anything about the device, save what can be deduced from said picture.

The display will measure 7 inches in diagonal. That means the Arnova GBook will face Amazon's Kindle Fire, B&N's Nook Tablet and other 7-inch slates.

Archos may even optimize it for reading, perhaps seek contracts with schools and such.

If that is the case, we'd guess that the launch will happen sooner instead of later, this month or in early September. There wouldn't be much point to a school-worthy gadget if it missed the start of the school year.

Even if it doesn't make it in time. We at least have the assurance that the item will ship eventually. Very few consumer electronics ever got canceled after being approved by the FCC.
