4 more successful arcade game concepts taken to mobile phones

Having eight games in one sounds like a real bargain. Putting aside the old concepts and low graphics, Arcade Park proves to be a real deal, as the classic style never dies. Herocraft has put some considerable attention into reviving arcade game concepts in a way which is highly similar to the past version and also appealing to modern game players.

The first review covered four of the games that Arcade Park manages to pack, leaving four more aside. Real Tanx asks the player to face the attacks of a horde of tanks that invade your headquarters. As captain of the division, you must stand for as long as possible in front of these attacks and successfully defend the flag.

The gameplay is highly difficult to face, as you control only one tank against a bunch of such enemy machines. It's frustrating to see tanks surrounding you and quite difficult to makeup your mind on which attack to respond first. Before you make up your mind, the black screen appears, saying "game over".

It's impressive to see how such a simple game concept like "Gold Hunter" can be all that challenging. The principle is simple: "get the gold, all the gold". Piles of it are lying around just waiting for you to take it. Of course, things couldn't have been that simple, as there are some bad guys dressed in red, looking to catch you.

The game asks for evolved stealing skills. If the thief in you is not all that talented, "Gold Hunter" gives it the chance to practice. Graphics is minimal. We have some ladders to climb and bars to use for crossing. The character can shoot the ground in front of the bad guys, making a hole for them to step in. Soon enough, the hole closes and leaves room for crossing later on. Don't get yourself stuck in such a hole, though, as there is no chance of getting out. It's a simple and enjoyable game, which offers maximum amount of satisfaction, given the low resources.

"Galaxy Invaders" is probably one of the oldest arcade game concepts and goes back to 1978, when it was first released under the name of "Space Invaders". The difference between the old concept and this mobile phone game version is just as big as the one between the two names. Even the enemies look highly similar and the surroundings too.

Having to face the attacks from a bunch of angry space or galaxy invaders is always bound to give some thrills to the player. The task is quite simple, asking from the player to destroy all enemy ships. It counts even when kamikaze invaders crash into the player, as both ships are destroyed. Still, it does not count for moving on to the next level, even if there is only one more enemy to kill. Such an action leaves you drifting into the infinite space with unsettling calm.

Last but not least, "Riverside Assault" is one of the most enjoyable games from this pack. You have to fly an airplane on the path of a river, without crashing into helicopters, ships, planes and dodging their attacks.

The fact that it has to offer a wide range of control options for the player in order to survive makes it leave the impression of being evolved and capable of intense action. You can slow down in order to take your time for aiming at the enemies or increase speed to avoid impact with a machine that you cannot shoot.

Playing it with a stylus makes the action even more enjoyable, as controls are highly responsive to commands. The graphics are quite simple, but relaxing and enjoyable, as they feature bright colors and a soothing light blue for the water.

Herocraft has managed to bring a great diversity with this pack of old arcade game concepts. You might not even need any other games installed on your handset, as eight are more than enough to choose from. That is the case if you are not looking for innovative idea and impressive graphics. Arcade games are well known for being catchy and there is surely at least one game in this pack to get anyone addicted.
