75-year-old Yasser Arafat died last November in a French hospital after a sudden illness.

Family and Palestinian officials have never given a definitive cause of death and kept Arafat's medical records a closely guarded secret.

The records, from the military hospital outside Paris where Arafat died, were obtained on Thursday by The Associated Press. They offered the first independent glimpse into his final days after months of questions and controversy.

There have been countless rumors on the matter, such as the one who spread the hypothesis of AIDS or even that Arafat has been poisoned by the Israelis .

Gay.com has reported even that Arafat had AIDS, having dabbled for years in bisexuality. This, according to the site, accounts for the low blood platelet count, the loss of weight, and the blotchy skin.

By contrast, Al-Hayat al-Jadida, Arafat's media spokesman, had declared that Israel had poisoned the leader with a chemical similar to that used by Israel to kill an Egyptian defense minister in the 1960s.

Al-Kidwa reiterated that Arafat died from massive organ failure following a brain hemorrhage. He told the AP that doctors had ruled out cancer and poisoning, and that a Palestinian medical committee is still investigating the 700-page report.
