Aquatica is a Canadian company based in Montreal, Quebec specialized in manufacturing underwater housings for today's best digital cameras, as well as the world-renowned Technical Lighting Control (TLC) strobe arms, trays, and accessories.

In a recent press release, the company announced the availability of a new underwater housing (AE-M1) designed to fit the Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless camera. The AE-M1 incorporates all the great features found in the company's DSLR line of housings, but in a much smaller and compact size.

With AE-M1 you will be able to take your Olympus E-M1 camera underwater, giving you at the same time access to all camera controls. The housing is designed using black anodized aircraft-grade aluminum with added polyester electrostatic powder coat paint for extra resistance.

Using the company's TLC technology, the AE-M1 comes with lightweight hand grips similar with the ones found on larger DSLR underwater housings that are also capable of holding large strobes or video lights without having to use reinforced Brackets.

The new Olympus E-M1 underwater housing also features a new atmospheric sensitive circuitry and leak alarm that will warn you whenever the case is in danger of leaking water, giving you time to reach the surface and save the camera.

This advanced Aquatica circuit includes temperature compensation that will prevent incorrect reading in case of sudden internal or ambient temperature changes. Moreover, the AE-M1 housing will ship with a bulkhead opening that allows you to easily install optional vacuum valves if needed.

If you're wondering what lenses the new housing will support, you should know that the AE-M1 is compatible with all popular lenses that make sense using underwater including Panasonic 8mm fisheye or the Olympus 60mm Macrolens.

The Aquatica AE-M1 underwater housing will be available starting March 2014 at a price of $1,699 / €1,243.
