Google is on a roll this year and the pranks just keep coming

Google just can’t stop with the pranks today, but we must all face it – they’re pretty funny. In the latest addition, Google Fiber is going to finally bring in something that’s even more needed in a house to make it a happy home – coffee.

Yep, you read it right. Google Fiber will soon be bringing a new device to the entire experience, namely one that will deliver you with fresh, hot coffee straight in your home.

“Our extensive research shows that coffee and Fiber just go together,” one Googler states very seriously.

The make-belief device would just basically add a specialized spout to the Fiber jack, which connects homes to Google’s “coffee backbone.”

It goes as far as to say that it can offer multiple types of coffee, add milk and flavors through a special app. Even better, since this is Google we’re talking about, it could predict what type of coffee you need based on the recent history, the time of day and the TV viewing preferences.

The idea is quite funny and as serious as the commercial is made, you could actually believe it.

As nice as this all sounds, it’s of course, just another one of Google’s pranks for April Fools’ Day. There are some funny parts in the 2-minute video, including the appearance of one “Java Backbone Engineer” that you can spot in the second half.

Another Google product that really couldn’t be ignored today was Chromecast. The Google dongle was launched last year and this is the first time the company can have some fun with it on April Fools’ Day.

The main idea of the video is that the device can be used for one glorious purpose – watching squirrel videos. “With Chromecast, we can finally watch online squirrel videos directly on our TVs,” the ad states.

By choosing these adorable animals rather than cats, Google managed to avoid becoming a cliché (although probably a lot of people were hoping for some more kitty videos). Regardless, with this one, Google seems to be mixing pleasure with business since this particular video could be a Chromecast ad just as well as an April Fools’ Day prank. After all, people do watch a lot of YouTube videos through Chromecast, so why not ones featuring squirrels?

Google has been making a lot of jokes today related to many of its products, including Gmail, Google+, Photos, and YouTube, to name just a few.
