Besides their great sweet taste and flavor, apricots are healthy and full of vitamins, helping our body to keep in shape and energized all through the year. One of the most natural concentrated sources of vitamin A, C, B complex, potassium and with a high level of beta carotene, apricots will be the first aid for your body to fight bacteria and infection, repair damaged tissues, develop strong teeth and bones and improve the condition of your eyesight. They tone up the eyes, stomach, liver and heart by supplying the body with vitamins and minerals.

From the apricot tree we can use for our profit fruits, kernels, seeds and flowers. The Chinese used the fruits for medicines, in order to prolong life, and the flowers for beauty purposes.

Due to the cellulose and pectin contents of the fruit, it is often used as a gentle laxative in constipation problems. Having an alkaline reaction in the body, it helps the digestion as long as it is eaten before a meal.

On account of its high content of iron, the apricot is beneficial for anemic individuals whose bodies lack vitamins and it also increases the amount of hemoglobin.

Fresh juice extracted from apricots is a natural healer when it comes to high fever skin diseases. Mixed with honey or glucose, this juice is very cooling for the patients with high fever and proceeds to the elimination of waste products from the body. Applied to scabies, eczema, sun burns or problems of the skin due to exposure to cold media, it has effective results, ameliorates and cures the affected epidermis.

Very nutritious, the apricot kernels are rich in Vitamin B 17, also called "amygdalin". This vitamin can help in the fight against the human body's enemy number one, cancer, because it destroys the cancer cells and helps preventing this appalling disease.

Doctors assert that our bodies are continually creating cancer cells and, under normal circumstances, their immune system can easily eliminate them. But, there are periods when we unconsciously expose our organism to risky factors such as stress or carcinogens, and then we need to appeal to natural helping resources in order to keep ourselves safe and sane. This is when the apricots become useful, as long as we consummate them regularly, because the amygdalin comes alongside the immune system to attack the cancer cells directly, by unlocking the cancer cells enzyme - which is different from the healthy cell enzyme - and destroying them.

The Vitamin B17 is used as the main therapy for cancer patients in clinics all over the world, associated with other non-toxic therapies and, obviously, with good nutrition.

Apricot's nut is rich in proteins and essential fatty acids - oleic and linoleic - and contains 45% oil, this being considered as beneficial as the almond oil. It is successfully used in the cosmetic industry accompanied by the apricot flowers, especially for the dry or aged, wrinkled skin products, due to its ability to penetrate the epidermis' surface without leaving any oily trace, but moisturizing and revitalizing it instead.

The apricot oil is traditionally used as massage oil and for aromatherapy, because it soothes skin and releases the senses with its sweet scent.

Also known as bitter almonds, apricot seeds have been used over centuries mainly for the patients suffering from respiratory problems, such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, wheezing and coughing.
