The vast majority of people around the world considers television to be their most important source of entertainment. However, we rarely have the time to watch our favorite shows exactly when they're aired, and this is the reasons why DVRs were introduced, as well those external storage solutions that provide extra-recording spaces for said devices. And that's exactly the type of device we'll talk about as follows, namely the DVR Xpander from Apricorn, which has just reached the 1 TB milestone, quite enough storage space to satisfy most users' needs for TV shows.

Thus, the DVR Xpander can add up to 562 additional hours of standard TV or 125 hours of high definition programming to the DVR. Simple and easy to use, the DVR Xpander needs only to be plugged into the DVR's eSATA port to increase the DVR recording time.

Available in 500GB, 750GB and now 1TB capacities, Apricorn's DVR Xpander is compatible with any DVR equipped with an active eSATA port, specifically the Scientific Atlanta 8300 series DVR. The DVR Xpander comes in a sleek aluminum enclosure, measures 4.80" x 1.80" x 8" (12.2 cm x 4.57 cm x 20.32 cm), can operate in horizontal or vertical positions, and includes an ultra-cool fan that keeps the enclosure at optimal temperature.

The DVR Xpander comes with a stand, eSATA cable, AC power adapter and Quick Start Guide. The DVR Xpander supports dual tuner DVR functions, including simultaneously recording two high definition channels while playing one back.

"With the popularity and convenience of DVRs, Apricorn's DVR Xpander has become the easiest way to increase the storage capacity and record all of your favorite programs. The DVR Xpander is a growing part of our family of reliable, easy-to-use, do-it-yourself solutions to increase storage on consumer's devices," said Mike McCandless, Apricorn's VP of Sales and Marketing. "With this larger capacity DVR Xpander, all our customers have to do is connect, format and start recording."

The new 1 TB DVR Xpander retails for around $379, which is quite an affordable price to pay for such a product, taking into account the very large storage capacity it can provide.
