Apple is an eco-conscious brand aiming to tackle the unpleasant low-battery situations in an eco-friendly manner, while fighting fossil fuel dependency and boosting new green technologies.

Rumor has it that the company is experimenting a new strategy, meant to replace the traditional plug-in batteries with fuel cells, according to GreenPacks. The new idea seems difficult to implement, especially since hydrogen fuel cells come along with storage issues and security risks, like an increased chance of explosion.

Even so, the plan is taken into consideration on a long term; therefore, Apple has several years ahead to minimize risks and come up with satisfactory results.

One of the most important benefits is that hydrogen fuel cells could deliver more power in a smaller package. The giant company has announced its interest for hydrogen fuel cells, taking into account their ability to replace less green competitors.

“Our country's continuing reliance on fossil fuels has forced our government to maintain complicated political and military relationships with unstable governments in the Middle East, and has also exposed our coastlines and our citizens to the associated hazards of offshore drilling,” Apple officials explained in a statement.

All these factors have determined them to seek for alternative, risk-free methods of improving their innovative technologies. A similar path is also spotted as an ambitious goal set by the auto industry, hoping to transform oxygen and hydrogen into water to power a new series of clean green vehicles, according to Green Technology World. Apple is now focusing all its efforts on battery improvements. This green path is not entirely new for the company, since it has announced its eagerness to revolutionize battery technology through “lighter and more efficient hydrogen fuel cells” two months ago.

The company expects a series of beneficial changes, meant to help them deliver a series of green long-lasting batteries for iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks, bringing eco-friendly technology one step closer to the millions of Apple users and fans.
