The Intellectual Property Office in UK and its Business Outreach Team has created a shortlist of some of the most well-known and successful contemporary British ‘Visionary Innovators’, to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day 2012. Among them, Apple’s design genius Sir Jonathan Ive can be found.

The list contains ten of the most famous names from the world of television, music, art, design, business and science.

Each and every one of them has achieved “considerable success or displayed ‘visionary’ behaviour in spotting ‘The Next Big Thing’, or developed innovate products, services or designs never seen before,” says Britain’s IP office.

The Business Outreach Team recognizes Sir Jonathan Ive’s numerous achievements highlighting his designs for “multiple iconic award winning Apple Inc. products.”

They also mention that The Guardian named Apple’s talented designer as the ‘Inventor of the Decade’ in 2009, and that he is responsible for roughly 600 patented inventions.

Ive sits in the middle of the list, between Sir Tim Berners-Lee, whose achievements fall nothing short of inventing the World Wide Web, and J.K. Rowling OBE, the renowned writer of the award winning global Harry Potter book series.

Other names include Simon Cowell, Banksy, Sir Ian Wilmut, Sir Norman Foster, James Goodfellow OBE, Michael Aldrich, and Sir James Dyson.

“We now invite you to vote for your favorite contemporary British Visionary Innovator,” says the IP Office’s Business Outreach Team.

“This list is not exhaustive, and therefore may not feature someone you feel should be on it. If so, you can opt to add your own name as your favourite when you go to the voting page,” reads the note.

Apple fans can cast their votes until Tuesday, April 24 at 17:00. Whoever scores the most votes will be announced on World Intellectual Property Day 2012 (April 26th).
