Today, Tim Cook is making his first on-stage appearance as CEO at a non-Apple event. Hosted by AllThingsD with journalists Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg on stage, the D10 conference promises to offer unique insight into the mindset of Apple’s newly instated boss.
Since 2003, the Wall Street Journal’s D conference has been the place where some of the most iconic leaders have appeared. One legendary interview in 2007 featured the pioneers of the computing industry, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.
The organizers pride themselves on “bringing you straight-up, unvarnished conversations with the most influential figures in media and technology.” No product announcement whatsoever should be expected from the event.
The speaker lineup for D10 includes screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who has been put in charge by Sony Pictures to make a screen adaptation of Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs, as well as Ed Catmull, the president of Pixar and Walt Disney Animation, and Oracle founder and CEO Larry Ellison.
