AT&T has started offering Apple’s 3G-capable iPad online. The prices for 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models are identical to the ones found at Apple’s own store - $629, $729 and $829 respectively, while data plans are unchanged from current pre-paid options - 250MB for $15 and 2GB for $25.

AT&T has been carrying the iPad for a while now, with its retail outlets stocking units since October.

It was around that time that Target, Walmart, and rival operator Verizon started online sales of the iPad. Best Buy chimed in earlier this month.

“Extend network coverage with mobile broadband data service from AT&T, the nation’s fastest mobile broadband network,” reads the carrier’s advertisment.

“With the 250 MB or 2 GB data plan options, you will receive an on-screen alert when the amount of data in your plan is low or when the plan is about to expire.”

“If you exceed the amount of data on your plan, you may immediately purchase an additional data plan or wait until the current plan automatically renews at the end of the 30-day period,” AT&T explains.

“Plans expire when you have used all the data included in your plan, or in 30 days, whichever occurs first.”

Plans are active for 30 days or until depleted, and they automatically renew every 30 days for domestic data plans. International plans do not automatically renew, and they can be canceled at any time, AT&T said.

The operator also advertises free shipping of the tablet computer.

The iPad is touted by Apple as a magical and revolutionary device which allows users to connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way.

Using the tablet computer, owners can “browse the web, read and send email, enjoy and share photos, watch HD videos, listen to music, play games, read ebooks and much more, all using iPad’s revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface,” the Mac maker said upon officially introducing the device to the market.
