The now infamous Bitcoin-mining, information-stealing DevilRobber trojan has been put to sleep by Apple with the release of malware definition updates that include the malicious element.

OS X Lion and Snow Leopard customers will be protected against the malevolent software which was threatening the devices of Mac users.

According to Spider-Mac, it doesn't matter if the infection targets a computer before or after the update was made as the anti-malware feature will detect, remove it and restore any settings made by the Bitcoin stealer.

From now on, whenever the trojan tries to plague a system, a warning will advise internauts to quarantine the file.

The newest threat that targets Apple machines was first detected at the end of October when security specialists everywhere were amazed by the large number of evil functions it could perform.
