Could very well be...

Not that long ago, it was rumored that Apple may reach 1 million notebooks sold over the Christmas quarter this year, but it looks like that landmark may be reached in this quarter, according to a Wall Street analyst.

Credit Suisse analyst Robert Semple increased his quarterly shipment estimate for Apple's 13-inch MacBook consumer notebooks to 775,000 units for the September quarter.

"Our channel checks indicate overall MacBook shipments are tracking at approximately 200,000 ahead of our initial estimate of 580,000," he wrote after returning from a trip to the Far East where all of Apple's notebook models are manufactured.

That makes 775,00 MacBook models, but it is still a bit shy of the million unit mark; however, there are still the MacBook Pros out there, and the analyst expects sales of these to hit 250,000, bringing the combined total to approximately 1,025,000 units for the September quarter.

During the previous quarter, Apple sold 800,000 Mac portables, a company best, highlighting the second most profitable quarter in its history. If the trend continues, it is more than likely to see Apple break the 1 million barrier easily. According to data released by market research firm NPD, the Mac maker's share of US notebook market doubled between the months of January and June to 12 percent. And not that long ago, Apple was reportedly looking for a third manufacturer partner to help out with all the MacBooks.
