A petition asking Apple to issue an announcement regarding the future of the Mac Pro is closing in on 15,000 likes, almost four times as many as it had on Friday, before the Memorial Day holiday.

A message signed Lou Borella, a professional editor and graphic animator in the NYC area, reads: “Hello Apple. We are the Creative Community and we are looking for a little clarity on one of our favorite products. The Mac Pro Tower. Is that too much to ask?”

An avid Mac Pro user, Borella is not alone in his cries. 14,000 others have hit the “like” button to give his petition a thumbs up, with high hopes that Apple will take note, and eventually take some action too.

With an average of 1 like per minute, the petition is sure to reach 15,000 votes by this time tomorrow.

They’re not even picky. All they want is to know if Apple is killing the Mac Pro or not, so they can move on, or wait for the next upgrade.

Borella asks Apple to let him and the other people in this group know what is going on with the Mac Pro, noting that "it's been neglected for far too long."

"We realize all the success of the iPad and iPhone and we’re really happy with our new toys. But unfortunately many of us need to make decisions on hardware for professional uses that allow us to make a living,” adds the creative.

“We have no desire to go the Dark Side and buy a Windows machine. And while the Hackintosh community has made great strides its not a viable option for a professional environment,” Borella argues.

“Unfortunately you haven’t left us much choice!! The professional software applications like CS6, AVID, Protools, Smoke and others require the most powerful hardware available. The ability to configure systems with specific hardware is essential for our businesses. The iMac is not the answer for these situations,” he explains.

Really, Apple. Is it too much to ask for an answer at WWDC?
