14 DAY TRIAL // Mac owners using a printer with their Apple computer might want to fire up Software Update today as Cupertino has posted a slew of updated printer drivers covering pretty much all bases, from Canon, Samsung, and Gestetner, to Ricoh, Infotec, and NRG, to name a few brands.
For each of the eight printer drivers rolled out yesterday, Apple says “This download includes the latest printing and scanning software for OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6.”
As usual, customers can launch Software Update on their Mac, provided that they already use one of these Printers with Mac OS X, and see their appropriate software update listed in the dialog window.
“OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6 provide third-party software for printers or scanners via Software Update. Simply connect your printer or scanner, and if software is needed and available, the software will be automatically downloaded as part of the creation of the printer/scanner queue,” Apple explains in a technical note.

With the exception of Canon Printer Drivers that requires Mac OS X 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard), all other printer driver updates apply to the base 10.6 version and newer iterations of Mac OS X (including 10.7 Lion).
The Canon package is also the largest weighing in at 328.37 MB, whereas the others range between 16BM and 30MB at most.
As usual, Apple supports multiple languages, including Deutsch, English, Français Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
