But nobody knows what the changes are...

Usually, when Apple makes updates, they tell the world, but this time there is an exception. Apple has recently released version 1.0.2 of Boot Camp, in a stealth launch.

In a very un-Apple like way, the latest Boot Camp update has no update notes, and there is no documentation whatsoever regarding the changes that have been made. The image you download has a modification date of July 10th, at 9:17 AM, but all of its contents are dated June 19th.

The Mac community has been poking around in it but has not yet uncovered what has changed. The most common and likely theory is that the update includes revised versions of the Windows XP Mac drivers, but if that were the case, one would think Apple would tell you to burn a new drivers disk (using Boot Camp Assistant) after installing the Boot Camp update, then boot into Windows XP and re-install drivers.

So far, nobody playing around with this new version has reported any problems, but neither any improvement. In terms of drivers, users have noticed that the iSight is not yet supported (as noted in documentation). So the driver theory seems to be nothing more than just another theory.

Without a doubt over the course of the next few days someone will figure it out or Apple will tell us what it does and the mystery will be solved. In the mean time, let us know if you see anything changed.
