New printer drivers are available for customers running OS X Lion and / or OS X Snow Leopard. Epson Printer Drivers, a package that will provide users with the latest Epson printing and scanning software for their system, is almost 1 GB in size, therefore customers will need a strong internet connection, and one that isn't on a plan taxed by the megabyte.

Weighing in at a hefty 961.5 MB, the latest printer drivers for Mac OS X 10.6 and Mac OS X 10.7 target owners of an Epson machine.

“This download includes the latest Epson printing and scanning software for OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6,” according to an Apple tech note.

Apple says the ‘system requirements’ are OS X Lion and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or later.

Supported languages include Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

“OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6 provide third-party software for printers or scanners via Software Update,” the Mac maker states in a Support document that has been updated this week.

“Simply connect your printer or scanner, and if software is needed and available, the software will be automatically downloaded as part of the creation of the printer/scanner queue,” the document reads.

Those who haven't used Software Update recently on their Mac are advised to run it before connecting a printer or scanner. This is because these users will need to update their Mac's database on what software was available before these drivers came out.

Users looking to find whether a specific printer is supported by their Mac can visit this page to view the complete list of printer and scanner software supplied by Software Update.
