As Mavericks is being prepared for its public debut, Apple is already putting the finishing touches on its first incremental update, OS X 10.9.1. According to this new leak, the rumored “Syrah” code name for OS X 10.10 is also legitimate.

A leaked screen grab published by 9to5mac (along with some Google Analytics data) confirms that Apple is already hard at work on the next-generation Mac OS (OS X 10.10) with its “Syrah” code name now confirmed.

Internally, Apple is also seeding Mountain Lion and Mavericks builds with the purpose of developing new bug-fix updates.

With the Mavericks release edging closer and closer, “…Apple moved a fair portion of its Mac software engineering resources onto 10.10.”

According to people familiar with the matter, a handful of software engineers have been assigned work “on updates to the OS X 10.9 Mavericks track.”

According to these people, “Apple is […] already be closing in on a point-release update (OS X 10.9.1) to Mavericks with bug fixes…”

This wouldn’t be unusual for Apple, as the company often launches the first incremental update (for any major OS release) within the first week since release.

Apple is expected to launch OS X Mavericks in the Mac App Store any day now, with the GM build having been available for about a week.

Mavericks is the first Mac OS to include iBooks and Maps (both borrowed from iOS), and is set to improve existing features and apps, like Calendar, Safari, and Finder (with tabs and tags), and includes advanced technologies for developers and end-users alike.

iCloud Keychain is one of the flagship features in Mavericks, a tool that keeps your passwords safe and handy, and automatically fills a form for you when you’re presented with one.
