A new set of updates is available for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro computers, including one MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update which aims to fix an issue that caused systems to hang during heavy processor loads, and the previously-reported SMC update responsible with bringing Power Nap for 2010 MacBook Airs.

MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.0 is recommended for MacBook Pro with Retina display (mid 2012) computers.

Apple recently discovered that some systems would hang during heavy processor loads, while NetBoot would not function properly when using an Ethernet adapter. Both these issues have been addressed.

The package applies to OS X 10.7.4 or later and OS X 10.8 or later.

MacBook Air EFI Firmware Update 2.5 is also available for download today. It’s recommended for MacBook Air (mid 2012) models and fixes an issue where Turbo Boost didn’t activate when using Boot Camp.

It also patches the same NetBoot bug mentioned above, and applies onto the same Mac OS versions.

MacBook Air SMC Update v1.7 is a tad more exciting as it enables Power Nap support on MacBook Air (Late 2010) models.

Power Nap is a new addition in OS X Mountain Lion that gets stuff done for you when your Mac is asleep. It can update reminders, sync with iCloud, fetch email, make backups, and even perform Mac App Store updates.

Apple details all of the Power Nap functions making their way to MacBook Air (late 2010) systems in a Support document on its website. Below are the key benefits listed by the Mac makers.
