While the Brother Drivers include the latest Brother printing and scanning software for Snow Leopard, the Samsung download includes Samsung printing software that originally shipped with Snow Leopard, Apple informs.
Talking about the latest Brother Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6, Apple claims, “This download includes the latest Brother printing and scanning software for Snow Leopard.” Requiring Mac OS X v10.6.1 or later, the package supports multiple languages and weighs in at exactly 100MB.
The Samsung Printer Drivers for Mac OS X v10.6 is a 23.25 MB download that “includes Samsung printing software that shipped with Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard),” the company headquartered in Cupertino, California says. Additional information on both of these updates is provided via Apple’s Support section, where a tech note entitled “Mac OS X v10.6: Printer and scanner software” talks about these kinds of updates.
“Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard includes software for many printer and scanner models,” Apple informs customers. “This software can be installed from the Snow Leopard Install DVD, and installed or updated by using Software Update (some models have software available through Software Update only) […] By default, Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard installs software supporting the printers currently used by your Mac (if available), nearby printers on your network, and popular printer and scanner models,” the Mac maker further explains.
“If you click the Customize button while installing Mac OS X v10.6, you can choose to install software only for printers currently used by your Mac (de-select all Printer Support options, except for ‘Printers Used by This Mac’), or you can choose to install all of the printer and scanner software that is available from the Mac OS X Install DVD (select all Printer Support options, including ‘All Available Printers’).”
