Earlier today, Mac users' Software Updaters listed iTunes 8.0.2 as available for download. Soon after, Apple's Downloads page was updated, announcing the new release, as well as the Windows versions of iTunes 8.0.2 and MobileMe Control Panel 1.2.

Strangely enough, Apple's MobileMe Control Panel 1.2 features no changes for the tool used to set up sync on Windows PCs, since the last update. Not even the version number has changed. Here's some information from Apple's Support -> Download page: About MobileMe Control Panel 1.2 (for Windows)

With MobileMe, your contacts, calendar, and bookmarks are automatically kept in sync between your PC, iPhone, iPod touch, and a suite of web apps at www.me.com. This update provides better support for syncing a large number of contacts (more than 2,000), and prevents syncing of data between Microsoft Exchange Server and MobileMe, a configuration that is not supported.

Apple points out that MobileMe is a service available only in English, French, German and Japanese. For those who haven't been acquainted with the MobileMe Control Panel, the software is used for two things: 1- to set up sync on one's Windows PC, and 2- it enables users to manage their MobileMe iDisk for online file storage and sharing. System Requirements call for Windows XP Home or Professional SP2, Windows Vista SP1 or later, a MobileMe Account (of course), and iTunes 8.0.1 or later.

Moving on to iTunes 8.0.2 for Windows, the company headquartered in Cupertino, California touts the update as aimed at improving stability and performance, while providing a number of important bug fixes. One of the issues addressed in this release is the same quality problem which appears while creating MP3s, also reported on the Mac side. The second fix disclosed by Apple is a Windows-specific update, which improves accessibility with Window-Eyes 7.0.

iTunes 8.0.2 requires any Windows XP service pack. Windows 2000 is also supported. To download MobileMe Control Panel 1.2 and iTunes 8.0.2 for Windows, use the links provided below.
