DriveSavers Data Recovery, Inc. has announced that Apple has selected the company for a special feature story on iPhone integration and usage in business. Apple representatives recently visited the DriveSavers facility, the company said. During a meeting with CEO Jay Hagan, Director of Marketing Lynda Martel and others, Apple discussed the implementation of the iPhone and the development of the company’s DriveSaver app.

DriveSavers touts itself as the worldwide leader in data-recovery services. In June, last year, the company was pleased to introduce the first application developed by a professional data-recovery company for iPhone and iPod touch. Dubbed DriveSaver, the app was described as a hard drive simulator that “educates” folks about hard drives, the technologies surrounding them, the best ways to protect against crashing them, or to recover lost data. The most popular feature of the application is “Crash a Hard Drive,” a simulation of real-world drive failures that users experience daily.

In the new DriveSaver 1.1, users can also see a Solid State Drive (SSD) circuit board go up in smoke chip-by chip, complete with explanations and advice on how to avoid experiencing this.

“DriveSaver enables users to explore the different parts of the drive and their function. And, if data loss does occur, DriveSaver can help prevent catastrophic loss with do’s and don’ts for data recovery,” the app’s description goes over at the iTunes App Store.

According to DriveSavers, Apple approached the company to be featured on its iPhone in Business web page. Apple had been impressed by a demo of the DriveSaver app, according to the provider of data-recovery services, and was flattered to learn that iPhone played an integral part at the company, the DriveSavers report suggests.

Since it was introduced last year, DriveSaver has been available as a free download in the Utilities and Productivity categories of the iTunes App Store. An online version of the hard drive simulator is available at DriveSavers website, the company also confirmed.
