The Apple Design Awards winners for 2010 have been announced by Apple during a special ceremony, which recognizes “iPhone OS applications that demonstrate technical excellence, innovation, technology adoption, and quality.”

“iPhone Developer Program members can submit nominations for iPhone and iPad apps that deserve to be recognized at the Apple Design Awards during WWDC,” Apple explained on its Developer section. “Nominated apps need to be on the App Store and should demonstrate excellence in the following areas,” the company said, outlining that technology adoption, design and user experience, innovation, as well as performance had key roles in the success of any iPhone app. “Thanks to all the developers who submitted nominations for the Apple Design Awards,” Apple added on its website. “We look forward to seeing you at the awards ceremony during WWDC 2010.”

According to a report by MacStories, Apple announced the following winners for this year’s Apple Design Awards (ADA). Unlike past WWDC editions, this year’s conference is restricted to iPhone OS / iOS.

- Financial Times; - Doodle Jump from Lima Sky; - Brushes for iPhone @by Steve Sprang; - TabToolkit from Agile Partners; - Articles for iPhone by Sophiestication – Review; - Flight Control HD from Firemint; - Twenty Minute Meals from Zolmo; - Star Walk for iPad from Vito Technology; - Real Racing for iPhone from Firemint; - Pinball HD from Gameprom.

For today, Apple has a lunchtime session scheduled at WWDC10: “Making Movies is Hard Fun — Building Tools for Telling Stories.” According to the Mac maker, attendees will get to listen to Michael B. Johnson as he tells stories from inside the Pixar studio. Michael B. Johnson is known to have been involved in most of Pixar's feature films and short films.

Another lunchtime session is scheduled for tomorrow (June 10) on NASA and Mobility. “Since its inception in 1958, NASA has powerfully demonstrated both the tremendous potential of human achievement and the humbling position of humans as inhabitants on a tiny ‘blue marble’ in the cosmos,” Apple said on its Developer site. “Learn how NASA is using iPhone to make it fun to discover information about space, missions and provide real-time data,” the session was described.
