In case we are not dealing with a typo, Apple has mistakenly confirmed the upcoming availability of iWork for iPhone. Referenced on its UK, Australia and Canada online stores, iWork for iPhone is covered by the company’s AppleCare Software Support. iPad, Apple’s tablet device introduced in January, this year, already supports a scaled down version of the iWork productivity suit originating on Mac OS X.

Various sources are reporting that, before the iPhone 4's launch, a screenshot highlighting the iPhone's ability to open attachments in external applications hinted at the existence of iWork for iPhone under iOS 4 (then called iPhone OS 4). Now, an identical reference to Apple’s productivity suite can be found on the company’s Canadian, Australian and UK online stores (screenshot above).

Customers accessing store.apple.com looking to learn more about the Mac maker’s AppleCare Protection plan for iPhone 4 are being told that, “With the AppleCare Protection Plan, you can extend your service coverage to two years from the iPhone purchase date. You can call Apple's award-winning technical support experts as often as you like and get your questions answered. Whether you use iPhone with a Mac or a PC, just one phone call can help resolve most issues”, Apple explains.

Towards the end of the list of benefits, Apple mentions software support, and what it includes: “Whether you're sitting in the comfort of your home or office or on the go, you can get direct access to Apple experts for questions on a wide range of topics” the company outlines. According to Apple, these topics include (emphasis ours): “syncing with iTunes; connecting to wireless networks; sending and receiving email; using iWork for iPhone and other Apple-branded iPhone apps”.

Finally, customers are being told that the AppleCare Protection Plan can be purchased only while their iPhone is still covered under the standard one-year limited warranty. Visitors are then directed to the frequently asked questions for more information.
