Apple has posted its March 17 Event online, offering an overview of the iPhone OS 3.0, as well as the new Software Development Kit (SDK) accompanying the fresh beta release. Hosted by Apple's Senior Vice President of iPhone Software, Scot Forstall, the keynote presentation is 1 hour and 28 minutes long.

“During this morning’s keynote, attendees got a good look at some of the new features coming this summer in iPhone OS 3.0,” Apple said yesterday. “They learned about the new tools developers can use to create next-generation mobile apps for iPhone and iPod touch. And they watched ESPN, Oracle, Ngmoco, Smule, Electronic Arts, and other developers demo apps created in just two weeks using the new SDK.”

During the keynote, Apple's Scott Forstall, aided by fellow colleagues Phil Schiller and Greg Joswiak, offered attendees an advance preview of some of the 100 new features included with iPhone OS 3.0. “For iPhone owners, it just keeps getting better,” Apple declared. “When iPhone OS 3.0 arrives this summer, it will introduce over 100 new features...” Those new features include the ability to:

- Search your iPhone - Cut, copy, and paste - Send photos, contacts, audio files, and location via MMS - Read and compose email and text messages in landscape.

As for developers, Apple has 1,000 fresh new APIs for them to use to add more great stuff to their apps. “With the new SDK, members of the iPhone Developer Program can build applications that do even more,” the company proudly states. “Developers will have the tools to enable in-app purchases — like subscriptions, additional game levels, and new content. They can also create apps that connect peer to peer via Bluetooth, communicate with hardware accessories, and use the Apple Push Notification service to provide alerts,” Apple explains.
