Apple’s scaled-down iMovie application for iOS devices has reached version 1.1, adding support for the company’s new iPod touch 4th generation, the ability to split clips and loop music, an updated photos browser, performance improvements and more.

“Make beautiful HD movies anywhere with iMovie, the fun, feature-rich video editing app designed for Multi-Touch,” reads the app’s official description.

“Create a video postcard of your day at the beach and publish it to the web — without ever leaving your spot in the sand,” Apple says on the official iMovie app iTunes page.

“Or make a movie of your child’s birthday party and send it to your parents — while the party is in full swing. With iMovie, you can start several projects and finish them whenever you want and wherever you are,” the description ends.

As noted above, iMovie 1.1 for iOS brings a hefty list of enhancements, all of which are available below (as revealed on iTunes).

What's New In Version 1.1

• Compatible with iPod touch (4th generation).

• Ability to split video clips.

• Automatic music looping when video extends beyond music track.

• Scrub to preview clips in Video Browser.

• In-app Tips page that illustrates how to use key features.

• Updated Photos Browser with newest images at top.

• Mute badge to indicate video clips with audio disabled.

• Additional performance and reliability improvements.

The iMovie iOS app is compatible with iPhone and iPod touch. Owners of an Apple iPad are not supported.

Additionally, iMovie requires a handset running iOS 4.1, the latest version of the mobile operating system powering Apple portables.

Earlier this week, Apple also updated its Find My iPhone and MobileMe iDisk apps, with both updates fixing several issues encountered by customers, while adding support for new devices.
