Apple has announced new features for iTunes Connect, one of which offers the ability to resolve metadata issues that have been identified by the App Review team without having to recompile and resubmit a new binary for review.

Via its Developer news channel, Apple says, “We are pleased to announce two new features added to iTunes Connect to help you manage your apps.”

These are described in the latest version of the iTunes Connect Developer Guide, now at version 7.0.

The document explains to developers, “You can now resolve metadata issues that have been identified by the App Review team without having to re-compile and re-submit a new binary for review.”

According to the Cupertino technology giant, “If you submit an app to Apple and the App Review team determines that specific items aside from your binary are not compliant with our guidelines, your app state will change from In Review to Metadata Rejected.”

Developers can thus resolve the issue by simply editing the metadata in iTunes Connect and their existing binary will be re-used for the review process, according to the updated iTunes Connect Developer Guide.

Another change noted by Apple, “Bundle IDs can now be edited as long as a binary has not been submitted for review and the app is not using Game Center or iAd.”

Finally, the Mac maker is adding support for creating iCloud Display Sets.

Developers can now begin setting iCloud Display Sets up in iTunes Connect to prepare for their iCloud-enabled submissions this fall.

iCloud, Apple’s upcoming suite of Internet services and the successor of MobileMe, will be released this autumn as a free service for all Apple ID holders.

A free 5GB plan will be available to everyone, while paid plans will also be available.
