Apple scientists created a unique battery chemistry, says the Cupertino giant

On the newly launched iPhone page Apple boasts that the iPhone 5 gives you great battery life “without a great big battery.” That sounds like a bit of a blow to Samsung’s new Galaxy S4.

“It’s impressive that iPhone 5 gives you long battery life so you can easily make it through your day,” says Apple.

iPhone users allegedly get up to 8 hours of talk time, up to 8 hours of browsing the web over a cellular connection, and up to 10 hours of video playback, Apple notes.

The company adds, “But it’s extraordinary that we fit such a powerful battery into such a thin and light design — all thanks to Apple scientists who created unique battery chemistry instead of settling for a large, off-the-shelf option.”

Although Apple makes no mention of any rival companies / smartphones, this is an obvious attack on the newly launched Galaxy S4 handset from Samsung.

The device boasts a 5-inch display which not only means that the chassis is bigger, but that the battery needs to be bigger to keep the phone working for a decent amount of time.

To light up the millions of pixels on that Super AMOLED panel, Samsung needs a really powerful (and big) battery.

And let’s not forget the processor, which also needs to be very power-efficient to allow you to use your smartphone for more than a day on a single charge.

Apple says its iPhone 5 has you covered in this department as well.

“Apple designed the A6 chip to make just about everything you do on iPhone remarkably fast. It makes quick work of even the most graphics-intensive apps, and high frame rates make gameplay feel smooth and downright real,” the Cupertino company explains.

“And the A6 chip works hand in hand with iOS 6 to be extremely power efficient. So you don’t sacrifice battery life for speed,” it adds.
