The man was right, even if he had a funny way of proving his point

The release of iOS 5.0.1 fixes a lot of errors and bugs that could have affected users but the most interesting of them is by far the one reported not long ago by Charlie Miller, the Accuvant Labs researcher who was kicked off the Apple developer program for his unique presentation of the vulnerability.

The flaw which could have affected a variety of devices from iPhones to iPods and even iPads, was unveiled by Miller after he submitted a cleverly crafted application to the App Store.

After the app was approved, he made a video demo in which he proved the existence of a kernel bug which Apple now describes as a “logic error in the mmap system call's checking of valid flag combinations.”
