VueScan 8.5.35, the latest version of developer Ed Hamrick’s software scanning solution, has received five new updates comprised solely of fixes, according to Apple's Mac OS X Downloads section. While some are Mac-specific, and others target Windows clients in 64-bit mode, the maintenance update is recommended for all users of the program.

Developed by Ed Hamrick (Hamrick Software), VueScan supports over 1,200 flatbed and film scanners and 321 digital-camera raw file types. The application is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux and assists users by automatically adjusting images to an optimum color balance, which reduces the need to work in Photoshop, or other graphic editing programs.

VueScan also includes a built-in color calibration of scanners, producing colors that look true-to-life. VueScan offers options for scanning faded slides and prints, batch scanning, IT8 color calibration and other advanced scanning features, as it supports more than 100 brands of negative films. New in version 8.5.35 are the following changes:

- Fixed problem with some newer HP scanners on Mac OS X; - Fixed problem with hanging when HP Deskjet D2600 printer connected; - Fixed problem with Epson Perfection V350; - Fixed problem with networked HP and Canon scanners on Windows x64; - Fixed problem with some USB scanners on Windows x64.
