A recent post on Apple Discussions shows that the official Apple forums are not free of bullies, though its admins pledge to do everything in their power to curate them as soon as the ‘victim’ can point them in the right direction.

In a thread posted this month at Apple Discussions, user Pat Schaefer asks: “Does anybody monitor these discussions?”

“I am seeing a lot of bully boy behavior, is this a free for all?”

A couple of seemingly experienced posters eagerly reply with indications, telling Pat that the only way to draw attention to the bullies is by simply posting the thread links.

An Apple representative immediately chimes in to assure Pat, that “We [Apple] work hard to keep Apple Discussions a welcoming environment for all users and take reports of inappropriate posts seriously.”

“But, we only have a small team of Hosts who monitor Apple Discussions, unfortunately we are not able to see each and every post made. So we rely on the users to report posts that they feel are out of line,” admin jeffd55 writes.

“Like MGW and littleshoulders said, once you have reached Level 2, you will have a link to report a post yourself,” he adds.

“Until then, you can post here in the Feedback forum and include a link to the offending post and a Level 2 or above user will report it for you or one of the Hosts will see it and take appropriate action.”

“Thank you for your concern and together we can keep Apple Discussions a welcoming community,” jeffd55 concludes.

And while Pat seems to have overreacted concerning the post he considered offending, it is nice to see how Apple is keeping a close eye on the forums, trying to provide the best support for its customers.

In August last year, Apple said that its Discussions forum was soon to be discontinued, and replaced by a more comprehensive support module called Apple Support Communities.

Such plans are yet to materialize.
