Apple used its press room today to officially disclose the shipping date of iLife '09 copies to customers. Arriving tomorrow, January 27, iLife '09 adds exciting new features to three of the five apps comprised in the suite (iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand), and minor enhancements to the remaining two (iWeb and iDVD).

An excerpt from Apple's official word on iLife '09 shipping tomorrow goes a bit like this:

Apple today announced that iLife ’09 will be available tomorrow, January 27, and features major upgrades to iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand, with breakthrough new ways to organize and manage photos, create movies and learn to play music. iLife ’09 is included with every new Mac and is available as a $79 upgrade for existing users through the Apple Store (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers.

As avid Softpedia readers should already know, Apple revealed at the Macworld 2009 keynote address that iPhoto ’09 builds on its predecessor's ability to automatically organize photos into Events by adding Faces and Places. Apple has chosen these innovative new ways to offer users easy organizing and managing of their photos using face detection, face recognition and GPS geo-tagging technologies.

For iMovie fans, the latest iteration of the software also adds on top of the successful iMovie '08, adding a new Precision Editor, video stabilization, advanced drag and drop, and animated travel maps.

GarageBand ’09 introduces 18 basic lessons and optional lessons from top artists such as Sara Bareilles, John Fogerty, Norah Jones and Sting. The guides offer interactive lessons that combine video instruction with animated notation and instrument views.

The remaining two pieces making up the iLife suite, iWeb and iDVD, have received a few enhancements themselves, such as new iWeb Widgets, a countdown timer, YouTube video, RSS feeds, and integrated FTP publishing, for iWeb, and Apple-designed themes featuring animated menus and more, for iDVD.

iLife costs $79 (US) and requires Mac OS X version 10.5.6 or later, Apple says. Visit Apple's online store here for more information on the iLife '09 suite.
