Tim Cook thanks staffers for an “incredibly successful year”

Speaking of Apple CEOs, Tim Cook has sent a letter to employees thanking them for their achievements in 2012 with a promise to extend their Thanksgiving vacation in reward. Retail, however, will continue to work through the holiday.

Obtained by the press as some Apple staffers were probably reading it for the first time, the letter begins with Cook congratulating his team leaders, saying “Apple is having another incredibly successful year, thanks to all of the hard work by you and your teams.”

“Your focus and dedication to making the best products on earth is what makes Apple such an incredible place,” said Cook.

The CEO puts off the main purpose of the letter as if he was giving an on-stage presentation, delving into the subject by passing through a thin crust of updates.

“In a little over six months we’ve launched outstanding new products in each of our major categories, starting with the new iPad this spring,” he wrote. “The response was incredible, and continued to show Apple’s unrivaled leadership in this post-PC era.”

“Over the summer we introduced the radically thin and light 15″ MacBook Pro with Retina display, and shipped Mountain Lion, the fastest-selling update to OS X ever. Today, iPhone 5 is taking the world by storm,” Cook continued.

“And in the next few weeks we’ll ship the new iPod touch and completely redesigned iPod nano with innovative designs that our customers are going to love this holiday season,” he said.

Finally coming to his point, Cook noted that, in order to recognize the hard work that made all this possible, “I’m happy to announce that we’re extending the Thanksgiving holiday once again this year.”

Most of Apple will be on break (with pay) on November 19, 20 and 21 which adds up to a full week off so everyone targeted by the vacation can spend as much time as possible with their families.

Cook also mentioned in the letter that some departments, such as retail, will have to work during this period, to serve customers. However, retail employees will also get the extra three days off at a time of their choosing.

As usual, Cook refers employees to AppleWeb for more details, and ends his letter with a sincere thank you and a wish for everyone to “enjoy this much deserved break.”

To be noted that this is the second time Cook awards Apple staffers an extended Thanksgiving vacation. The first time it happened was in October 2011, soon after the late visionary genius and former CEO, Steve Jobs, passed away.
