Besides the issue of questionable quality, the new Apple call center in Bangalore has also stirred debate about the outsourcing of IT jobs outside of the U.S., and possible job cuts in the current call centers.

But Apple has stated that the new center is natural, after the busy last year. "'Apple has gained millions of new customers in the last year and we are building a call center in India to help meet our growing service and support needs,' said Steve Dowling, an Apple spokesperson," Gene Koprowski reports for MacNewsWorld.

Apple's growth over the past year has been significant, and if this year proves to bring more of the same, Apple is going to be needing the new support center. The Current U.S. support centers in Sacramento and Austin will continue to grow, according to Apple, and the facilities will be staffed by local Apple employees.

As for the quality concerns, Apple has stated that the quality and level of service of the new center will be the same as that of the other Apple call centers. Although Dell has been heavily criticized for the quality of the support, there is no rule to say that Apple's support center quality will be anything less than Apple standards.
