MTBC, a healthcare IT company founded in 1999 and based in Somerset, N.J. has announced the approval of its e-prescribing application for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The software facilitates the sending of prescriptions to pharmacies electronically, directly from the physicians’ iDevice.

“MTBC […] is pleased to announce that its e-prescribing application has been approved by Apple for sale in the Apple App Store,” the company said in a report.

“[The] app allows physicians to send prescriptions to pharmacies electronically, directly from their Apple iPhone, iPad or iTouch devices,” it added.

Basically, the MTBC iRx app allows physicians to access their MTBC account with a simple tap on their iPhone’s screen and keep close contact with their pharmacy.

MTBC notes that one of the key action items in the U.S. government’s plan to facilitate the adoption of electronic medical records is the ability to e-prescribe.

This will also help create a national electronic healthcare information infrastructure throughout the nation, said MTBC.

“Providers who effectively e-prescribe using a qualified system like MTBC’s can earn a 2% incentive payment on their Medicare collections for 2010,” the company quantifies.

“The approval of MTBC’s e-prescribing application for the Apple App Store is the result of the company’s ongoing commitment to provide innovative, affordable technology solutions to healthcare providers and practices across the nation,” MTBC acknowledges for those interested in trying out the app.

It adds: “The e-prescribing application is just one of the many new technologies developed by MTBC to meet the ever-changing needs of its growing client base.”

“The company is continually striving to make its end-to-end billing, practice management and EHR solutions even more efficient and affordable for healthcare professionals,” MTBC concludes.
