"Amazon.com Inc. said holiday sales worldwide set a record this year on demand for Apple Computer Inc.'s iPod music players, video games and jewelry," Jeannine Defoe reports for Bloomberg News. "Shoppers bought more than 108 million items between Nov. 1 and Christmas, the Seattle-based online retailer said. The company did not provide revenue figures. The busiest single day was Dec. 12, when customers ordered 3.6 million items."

A look at Amazon.com reveals that the immensely popular music player from Apple dominated the sales in the electronics department by not only taking the first place on the top seller list, but also the second and the third.

"iPods ruled the holiday season in Electronics, owning the top three slots- the Apple 3 GB iPod Nano (Black), the Apple 30 GB iPod with Video Playback (Black), and the Apple 512 MB iPod Shuffle were the top sellers."

Strangely enough, and despite its huge popularity, there is no 3 GB iPod Nano. Apple has a 2GB and 4GB iPod Nano, and it is unclear to which of the two Amazon.com is refering. Still, the Nano has been a roaring success and this is just another in a long list of confirmations.
