Sony Ericsson W380i is a stylish clamshell announced by the Swedish-Japanese joint venture at the end of 2007 and released at the beginning of 2008. Being a Walkman handset, the phone packs, first of all, nice music features, including TrackID, which can recognize a song heard on the radio or in a club, allowing users to download it on their phones.

After the launch of the W380i clamshell in Romania, Sony Ericsson wanted to see what was the most downloaded song via TrackID, and this turned out to be "Apologize" from Timbaland feat. OneRepublic. It was the most asked track during January 2008, winning over songs from Leona Lewis and Rihanna.

Originally released in 2006 by OneRepublic, an American pop-rock band, "Apologize" was remixed by Timbaland and released again in September 2007, becoming an instant hit. Timbaland is a famous music producer mainly involved in R&B, Hip-hop and pop music projects. During the years he worked with various other artists, including Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Aaliyah, Bubba Sparxxx and Justin Timberlake ("Cry me a river" is made by Timbaland), so it's no surprise that his "Apologize" remix became a huge success.

Back to Sony Ericsson W380i, the clamshell is a tri-band GSM device that weighs 100 grams and measures 92 x 49 x 16 millimeters. It comes with Media Player, MegaBass, Flight mode, stereo Bluetooth with A2DP, TrackID (already mentioned), FM radio with RDS and PlayNow for fast and easy MP3 downloads. Moreover, W380i includes a gesture control feature that allows you to control several functions without touching the handset: just wave your hand in front of it to mute incoming calls or activate the alarm clock. Other features of the phone include a 1.9 inch 176 x 220 pixels main display, an external OLED one at 36 x 128 pixels, a 1.3 Megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and memory expansion slot.

Sony Ericsson W380i is now available in several European countries and will soon hit the US market (as Sony Ericsson W380a) and the Chinese one too (as Sony Ericsson W380c).
