Apple has updated its powerful photography software application, Aperture, to version 2.1.2. The update addresses poor quality printing of books and cards, as well as of calendars that users order through the printing service available to them through Aperture.

From Apple's Support page:

About Aperture 2.1.2

The Aperture 2.1.2 update improves the printing quality of books, cards and calendars ordered through the Aperture printing service. The update is recommended for all customers using Aperture 2.

Aperture is designed to assist professional photographers in post-production work. The software is optimized for speed, using a powerful search engine and Quick Preview mode for rapid-fire photo browsing. Thanks to these two elements that make up Aperture, even users working with large libraries will be able to get the best results.

Aperture's UI is intuitive and accessible, just like with any Mac app. With its streamlined user interface, Aperture puts library, metadata, and adjustment controls in one tabbed inspector, making good use of your screen's size. Using an expanded suite of adjustment tools including Recovery, Vibrancy, Vignette, and a soft-edged Retouch brush - all with the highest-quality RAW processing, you can enhance your photos with ease. Lastly, Aperture lets you instantly publish a .Mac Web Gallery for viewing via the web, iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple TV thanks to its superior integration with other Apple products.

The recommended configuration to use Apple's Aperture is a Mac computer with a 2 GHz or faster Intel Core Duo processor, or dual 2 GHz or faster PowerPC G5 processors, 2 GB of RAM, and one of the following graphics cards:

· ATI Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition, 9800 XT, 9800 Pro, X1900 XT, or X1600 · NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series or 7800 GT · NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500

Users must note that at least 5GB of available hard disk space is required for both the application and your projects. Also, you will have to login with your Apple ID and to enter your Aperture serial number to get this update.

There are two ways to get the Aperture 2.1.2 update. Either use your Mac's built-in Software Update mechanism (Apple Menu --> Software Update), and choose Aperture 2.1.2 from the list of available updates for your computer, or download the standalone package installer available below (48MB).
