It appears that Apacer decided it was time for some new solid state drives to grace the consumer market, so it figured it may as well aim for a market segment that is not as wealthy in such products as it could be.

Solid state drives have definitely gained traction, even despite how high their price tags are compared to those of hard disk drives.

Still, while there are quite a few high-end models and mainstream ones, the entry-level front can't really claim to be abundant in them.

Mostly, reaching affordable price points is hard because of the nature of such storage devices, but Apacer decided it would try anyway.

Thus it was that the Pro II Series AS202 was created, a collection of drives that stick to the regular 2.5-inch form factor.

They are supposed to have price points similar, as far as accessibility goes, to the Pro Series SSD A7201.

Regardless, they have capacities of 32 GB, 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB, as well as varying read and write speeds.

The 32 GB one works at 210/60 MB/s, the 64 GB models at 210/110 MB/s and, finally, the 128 GB and 256 GB at 230/180 MB/s.

“More than 10 millions of Apacer’s SSDs have been shipped in the world. Apacer’s continuous investments in the development of innovative technologies have helped popularize the SSD, making it the key to breaking the bottleneck of computer performance!” Apacer indicated.

“We introduce the entry-level AS202 following the friendly-price for the first generation Pro Series SSD: A7201. Embedded with the patented technology, the performance of AS202 can catch up the top-level models of other brands. And with the exclusive upgrade kit, desktop users can be benefited from Apacer SSD's exceptional efficiency.”

All newcomers have support for TRIM, 14/28-bit ECC, a power consumption of 0.6W when idle and two-year warranties. Prices, however, are still unknown.
