New random access memory is not all that Apacer has been working on, as the company issued another press release, one dealing with a NAND Flash product of the USB stick variety.

Apacer is one of those companies that deals in more than one product type, albeit in fields that are fairly closely related.

One of its most recent moves consisted on bringing forth a new memory product of the DDR3 variety and with a capacity of 16 GB.

Now, the same outfit has revealed the AH350, a USB flash drive unit featuring the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface.

For those that need a reminder, USB 3.0 works at a theoretical maximum speed of 5 Gbps, about ten times faster than USB 2.0.

The newcomer has a black shell and a capacity of 8 GB to 32 GB, plus backwards compatibility (obviously) with the USB 2.0 technology.

The maximum transfer rate achieved by the single-chip controller is 60 MB/s, not close to the aforementioned top limit but still twice as fast as USB 2.0.

“Flash drive is a widely-used functional storage product; users would look forward to a more compact, faster and better quality flash drive that features a larger storage capacity, more stable performance and a more customer friendly price,” said Grace Lo, associated vice president of Apacer Commodity Business Unit.

“Thanks to its competitive edge in storage technology, Apacer takes the lead in making USB 3.0 products more compact and prevalent by launching AH350. As a one-stop solution that meets every consumer need, AH350 is most lightweight USB 3.0 flash drive with the highest cost performance available in the market.”

Among the assets of the flash drive are environment friendliness (RoHS compliance) and the ACE data compression software (data compressions and password protection).

Unfortunately, the press release held no pricing and availability information.
