The ASP-318 and the ASP-518

The smartphone space has just gotten a little more crowded, with two new devices announced by AnyDATA Corporation, the ASP-318 and the ASP-518. According to the company, the new handsets come to the market with a great deal of multimedia features, so that users can benefit from an enhanced entertainment experience. The new smartphones are powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile operating system, and are expected to make an appearance at the MWC show in Barcelona next week, the company also revealed.

The first of the new Windows phones, ASP-318, comes as an affordable smartphone and is aimed to fit the needs of students and enterprise workers, which were looking only for mid-level feature phone until now. According to the company, the new device comes with the media-rich Mediatek MT6516 application processor inside, which is aimed at entry-level smartphones, and can provide a rich multimedia experience to any subscriber out there.

The handset runs under Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional, boasts a 3.2-inch color touchscreen display, accelerometer, built-in GPS receiver with support for various location based services, EDGE/GPRS modem, microSD memory card slot, FM radio, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and built-in flash, as well as dual SIM capabilities. The phone should land in Q2, and will be marketed as the iMedia smartphone.

The second device, ASP-518, comes with 3G connectivity options on board and is being marketed by China Telecom utilizing the well-known Phillips brand. The handset comes with Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional on board, GPS navigation, a 3.2-inch WVGA screen, Wi-Fi connectivity, 4GB of memory, as well as a micro SD memory slot. It includes an MSM7627 3G processor from Qualcomm as well as a 5-megapixel auto focus camera and support for 3G CDMA EVDO Rev A networks.

Shin, CEO of AnyDATA. “Our carrier customers desire high-end and entry-level smartphones that they can brand and provide a compelling multimedia experience for smartphone applications.” Both handsets will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week.
