14 DAY TRIAL // Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith share something really rare in Hollywood, a marriage that's lasted over a decade. The actor couple have managed to stand by one another in the holy bond of matrimony for over 17 years, which in Hollywood should be multiplied by ten, the way divorces are popping up left and right.
But rumors of an impending divorce began to pop up after Antonio was spotted hitting the town with a mystery woman at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The 53-year-old actor and his 56-year-old wife have been married since 1995, so many are saying that a divorce is just around the corner.
However, Radar claims that these rumors are false and says that it spoke with Griffith's sister, who confirmed that there was no tension in the couple and that it was all just hearsay and assumptions. Still, that doesn't explain why Banderas was dancing with hot actress Natalie Burn at the Gotha Club in Cannes and seemed to be making a party of it.
Griffith's sister denies that Melanie and Antonio are at odds or that their love has run its course. Instead, she claims she speaks with her actor sister all the time and that the two of them are very much still together.
This message seems to be the same as the one Melanie is sending out at the moment, when she was spotted out on Tuesday in Beverly Hills, flaunting her wedding ring, as a sure sign that her marriage was not on the rocks, and Antonio wasn't messing around with hot young actresses behind her back.
Apart from their love and marriage, the couple are also tied professionally, something that would be inevitable since they both share the same career path. Most recently, the couple starred together in the sci-fi thriller “Automata,” but there are also plans for another movie project in the future that will see Banderas directing and Melanie starring an a movie titled “Akil.”
The divorce rumors were also fueled by the fact that Banderas traveled to the Semana Santa festivities in Malaga, Spain, earlier this year without his wife, something that he almost never does. Meanwhile, Melanie was spotted with just her girlfriends enjoying herself at the Coachella Music Festival in California.
There would also be that cryptic tweet Melanie Griffith posted at the beginning of May that went something like this “Who believes in marriage and why? Or why not?” Could she have been dropping hints at a divorce with that? We will have to wait and see.
