An organization putting up an antique coffin for sale on Craigslist has forgotten to take out the skeleton inside before selling the item.

The coffin, featured above, belonged to Independent Order of Odd Fellows, which is no longer in existence.

According to the Daily Mail, it was put up for sale by Dave Burgstrum of Council Bluffs, Iowa. It was dated to the 1880s and listed on Craigslist for $12,000 (€9,150).

The police have banned him from selling the item, as it is illegal to sell and purchase human remains in that form.

The question now is whom the bones belong to, and the Pottawattamie County Medical Examiner’s Office is trying to find out just that.

The skeleton could belong to someone of Native American descent, in which cases a Native American group would be getting them.
