Modern Warfare 2 seems to be cementing its status as the best selling videogame of 2009. After coming on top in the software charts released by the NPD Group for November in the United States, where it managed to sell more than 6 million copies on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, the shooter from Infinity Ward and Activision is also on top in the United Kingdom chart, for the fifth week in a row, seemingly poised to enter 2010 latched tight to the number one spot.

After last week, FIFA 10 from EA Sports appeared ready to mount a challenge for the first position, as Wii Sports Resort from Nintendo jumps from number five to number two and might get to the top in the first weeks of January 2010, when top releases are few and far between and when Modern Warfare 2 finally loses its Steam.

Assassin's Creed 2 from Ubisoft is also mounting a solid performance, again coming in third spot when it comes to sales, and it's stalked by Wii Fit Plus from Nintendo, another title which has long term potential. The top five is closed down by FIFA 10.

New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii has fallen two positions down to six, as it does not manage to match its impressive performance in Japan, while another title powered by the same star, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games from SEGA, is sitting in at seven.

The only new entry in this week's chart is Just Dance from Ubisoft, a title that caters to a younger and more casual gaming crowd. Forza Motorsport 3 from Microsoft continues to stay in ninth place, while Mario Kart Wii from Nintendo closes down the chart. The highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks only managed to debut in eleventh place.
