Only 60 units will be sold

Vertu has just expanded its Ferrari lineup of mobile phones with another device that is meant to celebrate the car's 60th anniversary. The luxury handset follows the design lines of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, although the Vertu style is still the main one to spot.

When the producers said "limited edition", they actually meant it. The Ascent Ferrari 60 will be manufactured in only 60 units, which should also be reflected in the price that it will come at. A similar tactic has been chosen with a previous handset model from this line of Vertu mobile phones, the Ascent Ferrari 1947, which was sold in only 1,947 copies.

The new Ascent Ferrari 60 is made from a titanium shell and has a leather back made of the same material as a Ferrari seat. That should make it a pretty comfortable mobile phone to sit on, if it does not add much to its good looks. Moreover, the producers have taken into consideration even the smallest details. The phone features some large screws sticking out. That's not a slip from the designer, but just his desire to draw the user's attention, as they are the same Philips type used in Ferraris.

No other mobile phone comes with these features, although it's probably not much of a shame. There will surely be a restricted market for the Ascent Ferrari 60 luxury phone, probably one that is willing to match their Ferrari car with the handset. There are no specifications for this device, although that matters less when you have the same type of leather as that of a Ferrari car. For some people at least. The phone actually looks like a low end one, with a tiny screen and no camera.

Still, the new Ascent Ferrari 60 has high chances of being the hottest thing out there in some select environments. There is a great possibility that it will be sold on a per-request/invitation basis, considering that no pricing or even distribution details have been revealed.
