PS3 imports illegal...kinda

Some people never learn their lesson and keep on trying to make money out of the PS3. After trying to swindle people out of their hard earned cash with PS3 eBay orders, "wise-guys" crossed the Atlantic and ended up in the U.K.

GameSpot reports that a new PS3 scam has come up in the U.K. Presumably an advertisement has been put up in a London train station reading " PlayStation 3 -Order now for Christmas". So far, so good, but - yeah, there's a but - if you looked down you were able to see a phone number with the 0906 prefix, the equivalent of the U.S. 1-900. To top it all the fine print reads that a call will cost you around GBP 1.5 per minute.

In order to complete a call you will have to spend some four and a half minutes on the phone, and it will set you back around GBP 7.5, (US$ 14 converted into US currency). The call starts with a pre-recorded message and after the recording is done, you finally get a chance to place you order.

What is peculiar about this pre-order is that the company that set up this line will deliver you a Japanese or an US version of the PS3. I thought PS3 imports were illegal, but I guess that no one in England wants to wait until March 2007 (the official PS3 release date in Europe).
