Kirstie Alley is probably thinking she’s jinxed right now: after last week’s tumble during the rumba on Dancing With the Stars, she had another mishap while doing the waltz, as one of her shoes came off and she had to stop to put it back.

As the video below will confirm, Kirstie and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy set out to make amends for the other week, when Maks’ hip gave out and the two fell to the ground.

At the same time, Kirstie also wanted to prove that her age (she’s 60) was not an obstacle for them and that she could do a sensual waltz just as good if not even better than a 25-year-old.

Footage from the rehearsals also shows that Kirstie has to deal with the pain from her hip, which tends to “act out” when she pushes it too much.

Everything goes smoothly with the dance until halfway, when, after a pirouette that sees Maks putting Kirstie on the floor, she realizes her shoe has come off.

She was initially supposed to be “doing the swan,” the actress reveals after the dance, but, instead, she was forced to fumble with her shoe to put it back on until Maks came to pick her up to dance again.

While this is happening, Maks is executing a solo – but, of course, the camera pans on Kirstie and her shoe drama.

The two recover very quickly and finish the dance, getting the judges to note, once again, that it seems that adversity of this kind seems to stimulate Kirstie to dance even better.

“I saw you tuck most of it back in, and you didn’t miss a beat,” Carrie Ann Inaba says, dubbing Kirstie the “queen of unexpected mishaps.”

“But this one was kind of strange I felt like you weren’t in the number like you were waiting for it to be over. Then oddly, when the shoe fell off and you put it back on, you had so much more joy when you were dancing,” Inaba adds.

Len Goodman agrees on that Kirstie danced better after the mishap, but believes she needs to work more on her posture and steps.

Bruno, on the other hand, would say there’s no more room for improvement with Kirstie and Maks: they did wonderfully.

“In spite of what happened you did a fantastic performance, I’m proud,” he says. The two got a 22 score for their waltz , which you can see in the video below.
