37-year-old Eric J. Rosol, of Black Creek, Wisconsin, has admitted to participating in the distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack launched by Anonymous in February 2011 against the website of Koch Industries.

According to Kake, Rosol pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of accessing a protected computer.

Koch Industries says it paid $183,000 (€137,000) to a consulting company due to the attack. However, it has been agreed upon that the direct losses caused by the attack are less than $5,000 (€3,700).

On December 2, a federal judge will decide how much restitution the Wisconsin man will pay.

Rosol’s attorney has stated that they’re thankful the case has been resolved through a misdemeanor, and that his client will be able to move on with his life.

In the DDOS attack against Koch Industries, several Anonymous supporters used a web-based tool to disrupt the organization’s website.
