Today, on May 9, one hour ago to be more precise, Anonymous channels revealed that the main site of the United Nations became the target of a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack. The reason: a Palestinian hunger strike “ignored” by the UN and the western world.

According to Akhbar, the Palestinians protest against Israeli detention laws and the fact that the country is holding them “without charge.”

While Palestinian officials fear that the death of one of the protestors could be a disaster, Anonymous hacktivists try to raise awareness the best way they know how.

“Since westerners and #UN seems to ignoring #PalHunger, may be #Anonymous has to do something about it? | #Free#Palestine #Gaza,” they wrote.

Currently, the targeted site, un.org, appears to be functioning normally.
